Wellington Hospitals Foundation (official charity of Wellington & Kenepuru Hospitals, Wellington Regional Children’s Hospital & the Kapiti Health Centre) would like to thank Trust House Foundation for the generous grant which has funded a 5 panel mural for Kenepuru Hospital.
The purpose of the mural is to create an uplifting environment for older age group patients who have been diagnosed with Dementia or Alzheimers. The mural will also serve as excellent Art Therapy and the designs, which were created after consultation with patients and staff, will enable patients to reminisce of wonderful memories from their past. Recent research has shown that murals create a calming atmosphere and help to promote enjoyment with the potential to empower dementia sufferers.
Art Therapy also has the potential for some cognitive benefits for dementia sufferers and we are most grateful to Trust House Foundation for their support of this project.
