The Porirua Arts Trail
The Porirua Arts Trail returns on 18 and 19 March 2023. This event showcases the work of local artists and will include a full range of the arts; painting, weaving, 3D printing, printmaking, textiles, pottery and Maori and Pasifika art. Over forty artists and art groups will be exhibiting in their own studios or together in centrally located hubs where they will gather to show and sell their work.
Pataka Museum, Gear Woolshed and Fibrecrafts, Whitireia Campus and Mana Arts Society Clubroom are amongst the most well-known of the community hubs. There will be fourteen open studios for people to visit to see a glimpse of our artists workspaces and to buy their work.
Artists from Pukerua Bay to Tawa are participating in this event. In the past the Arts Trail has been organised by Friends of Pataka but in 2023 it has been brought to the public by a group of artists and art enthusiasts.
Funding from Trust House has enabled us to pay for screen hire, pay for community hubs and help with printing brochures and other publicity material for the event.
Because of the support from Trust House, we have been able to continue showcasing the vibrant artworks from artists in our region. We have enabled our weavers, crafters, potters, painters, photographers to come together once again and connect and do what they love doing – ART.
