Tararua Film Festival

Thanks to Trust House, we put on the first annual Tararua Film Festival at the Regent Pahiatua in late October 2022. It was a stellar night, highlighting motion pictures made by local filmmakers. The programme featured Pahiatua native Tim Hamilton’s award-winning short film Zero followed by Pahiatua import Derrick Sims’ feature film Come Morning. The filmmakers were on hand for the night and engaged with a great, enthusiastic audience immediately following the films.

As a non-profit cinema, the Pahiatua Upstairs Cinema Society’s purpose is to bring art and culture to our northern Wairarapa town. We do this each week, screening the latest films from around the world in our charming, single screen cinema. Having grant opportunities like this from Trust House, allows us to go one step further and create special programming, bring in filmmakers to talk craft with our audiences, and to give our community an opportunity to experience something unique and inspiring. Our hope is that some young kid in the audience who always dreamed of making movies saw those two films and realised that it’s possible.

We appreciate your support, Trust House. It means the world.
