The Porirua Foundation

The Porirua Foundation previously known as the Porirua Community Appeal Trust is a charitable trust that has supported a wide range of community initiatives and projects since its inception in April 1997. Substantial funds have been raised by the Foundation for art, culture, leisure, recreation and education initiatives.

Two significant projects the Foundation was involved in funding were the Arena Aquatics Centre  and the Te Rauparaha Arena complex. Te Rauparaha Arena located in the cultural hub of Porirua, next to Pataka Museum of Arts and Culture. The Arena opened in November 2008 and hosts international and national sporting events such as the Oceania World Qualifying Volleyball championships and national netball championship games.

The primary focus of the Foundation in recent years has been in promoting and supporting local education and youth initiatives. These initiatives include the annual Porirua Youth awards and yearly provision of free Stationery in schools project providing free stationery  for all Porirua primary schools.

The Foundation is open to any proposals that enhance and supports local schools and colleges to ensure young people in Porirua are given every opportunity to develop their skills and talents.

Trust House has funded the stationery in schools project for the past 8 years ensuring that all Porirua primary school children have access to the basic materials needed to support their ongoing education. This project has also been generously supported by the Warehouse who provide further discount on the bulk purchase of stationery for schools made possible by Trust House’s significant annual grant to the Foundation.
