Upper Hutt Community Youth Trust is a charitable trust working with young people to help them realise hope for a better future. We run a youth centre, barista training course, recording studio, wellbeing courses and leadership training with young people, as well as a number of other youth programmes and mentoring. UHCYT has four great youthworkers, and runs a coffee cart bus hire social enterprise providing sustainable income to pay youthworkers to do good work.
We are stoked to have received funding from Trust House Foundation to be able to purchase a Barista Coffee Machine specifically for training young people. It is now fully setup in our youth centre, and has pride of place. Young people can now be trained in the warm (previously had to be trained in a coffee cart – which made it difficult in the winter, and cramped. We now have been able to setup a purpose built space for coffee training as per the attached photos.
The impact on the community through being able to have a purpose setup training setup is that we can now put more young people through our barista training, while at the same time giving young people practical experience in our coffee cart. Ultimately this means more young people trained with an employable skill of making Barista coffee.
UHCYT wants to thank again Trusthouse for their support of our Kickstart Coffee initiative, impacting young people with employable skills in the hospitality industry.
